Birds not coming to my bird feeder?
I’ve had a bird feeder for quite a few years now hanging in the same spot of the same tree the whole time. It was only until 4 days ago that I decided to refill it with birdseed. Since then, I haven’t seen one single bird, only an occasional squirrel. What can I do to attract birds? I was thinking that since I’ve kept the bird feeder there unfilled they might have habituated to it. Should I change the position?

Well, …, the same thing is happening to me as well. However, the reason is that trees yield seeds in the fall. As a result food is plentiful. Thus, the birds are turning their noses (err, …, beaks) up at your food. give it a few more weeks. After winter sets in they’ll come back!
The reason that no birds may becoming to your feeder, is that there are Predators in the vicinity, such as Cats. Birds of Prey etc.Squirrels will also frighten them away.so try and get a Squirrel proof feeder, but continue to fill the feeder it maybe that there is plenty of wild food at present.
I would not change the position if birds have been coming to where it is, as they do note changes .
put the feeder in a positionwhere the birds can see it. Normally birds come early in the morning to eat because of the Squirels and things. Dont worry, they will come to it when they are hungry. Another good tip is to not put it under a tree because they might not be able to see it. Also, put lots of them in your garden!
good luck
They will find it and the squirrel help them do that. If you want, you can toss some seed upon the roof and around the neighborhood to speed things up.
