No
No because puppy mills are not going too hand there dogs over too get spayed.neither are show breeders.
Actually your not far off. PETA and the Humane Society would like to see us no longer own animals. Their ultimate goal is to see dogs and cats go back to being feral animals that we watch from a distance. However spaying and neutering is not a bad thing and I don’t believe it will cause dogs or cats to go extinct I believe their are to many good breeders and people out their who care to much about preserving purebred animals.
Here’s a link to an artical about PETA and Humane society.

no. theyre just trying to control the population so there isnt as many cats/dogs who are born and die due to neglect b/c no one wants them
No. That makes no sense since there is still controlled breeding of domestic dogs and cats.
No. Think of all the show dogs and show cats in the world…you can’t show a spayed or neutered animal. Think of all the breeders. Think of all the careless owners that don’t spay or neuter their animals. It’s virtually impossible for cats and dogs to go extinct through the spay/neuter mission.
No, My dog is neuterd but my dog still humps the air around the neibours dog. I feel sorry for the neirbours dog! (my dog does it to his teddy bear sometimes) XD
no – their mission does not stop legitimate breeders from breeding high quality pure-bred dogs. and unfortunatel does not shut down puppy mills
Not so long as every litter is multiple. For every one animal that does not reproduce, there is another that reproduces 5 or 6 times per litter. They can’t even catch up. Even if they could catch up, they would only reduce the number of homeless animals.
Maybe in a few thousand years. Seriously the spay/neuter thing won’t make them extinct because there will still be responsible breeders out there working to improve different breeds. And there will always be idiots that don’t spay/neuter and strays because of it. I don’t see the stray cat/dog problem vanishing, nor the BYB problem vanishing, in my lifetime, do you?
If you stop to consider that even a semi-large city like Milwaukee has over 250,000 stray cats and a huge number of stray dogs, plus the OWNED ones added to that….. extinction is impossible. There are not enough vets to spay the strays much less take care of the rest properly.
Our animal control here in the city proper posts numbers for the year, showing all the euthenization they’ve had to do and the amount of animals pulled by shelters and breed rescues plus adoptions. They get a fraction of the loose animals and deal with pets turned over to them (our ONE main shelter no longer accepts animals at their place, they went to no kill and all surrenders go to animal control – where the shelter picks from when they have a cage free up).

The numbers for this year only go to November at this point but they’re on par with last year. 12,100 turned in, half euthenized, about a quarter transferred to our shelter or the one to the north in the next county. Under 600 adopted at animal control. It’s only a fraction of what’s here. They took in over 2,000 pit bulls, 85% of which were euthenized.
Now compare Chicago which is double our size and has a far higher euthenization rate. Add in all the other major cities, then add in all the smaller towns and communities, and factor in all the dogs/cats killed on the road that are not even in these figures.
