It has catnip in it and the cat is already going crazy! He is a 7 month Siamese Snowshoe and it doesn’t take too much to get him crazy so it may not actually be from the catnip. We were wondering how long the catnip will take to wear off of the scratching post and how much it will affect him. We also just got a 3 month kitten today and are curious about how it will affect him as well.

He’s nearly 10 years old btw, and I really can’t bear the thought of de-clawing him. I’m told it’s incredibly painful.

Well, sometimes she uses them, but not often. I have tried to show her, by taking her paws and scratching at the posts, and I say NO and stop her, when I catch her scratching at the rugs or furniture. Does anyone know how to urge her to only use the scratching areas that are designated for her ?.
