How can i stop my dog from eating out of the cat box?
I clean the cat box several times a day, but the dog still gets at the poo. Someone told me their puppy was eating their own poo and the vet told them to put Ajinamoto (MSG) on the puppy’s food for a week or two. The dog apparently is supposed to dislike the taste after it comes out the other end!?! Has anyone heard of this? Tried it? Thanks

Why don’t you try ForBid? It is also used to treat pet’s that eat their own feces, because it causes them to have a very bitter taste and acts as a deterrent. You can get it at many vet clinics and pet stores.
ew. I would put the kitty litter box up away. Thats what I do and my dog does not get into it.
Well you can do what we did with our puppy. Put the cat box on an elevated area. Cats have no problem jumping up there to get in, but pups aren’t so good at it. Also try getting a hooded box and turning it towards a wall where the cat can get in and out but the dog wouldn’t be able to.
Dogs eat all manner of poo. My dogs LOVE cow patties but there are so many lost nutrients in them that dogs enjoy they sort of get their vitamins that way. It’s just a way of life for dogs in actuality but for indoor dogs it’s a definite turn off.
To keep your dog out of the cat box, put some kind of barrier around it, so the dog can’t get to it…..behind a "fence" or up ON TOP of something the dog can’t reach.
As for the dog eating his own poop, a dog trainer in England (Victoria Stillwell) says to put chunks of pineapple in the dog’s food. When the poop comes out, it doesn’t taste good to the dog, and it won’t eat it anymore.
Hope these suggestions work for you……Good luck.
I could not stop my dogs so I put my litter box up high where the dogs can’t get to it.
