How long does it take for the payout on a claim for pet insurance?
My dog had an operation and we paid for it up front, and have made a claim to have the money back (except the excess), and want to know how long i will have to wait for the payout. I know that there is no guaranteed time in which you will get your money back after making a claim on pet insurance but im intrested to know how long it has taken people in their own experience?

Generally, expect a claim to take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks.
Anything beyond that and I would be calling the pet insurer and escalating the call to management, if need be.
It can depend on the veterinary practise or referral veterinary hospital that handles your claim form.
As a rule of thumb, with Petplan, it takes around two weeks from submitting the claim to receiving the cheque.
However, for larger claims it’s possible depending on where you dog is receiving treatment to claim direct. For a direct claim the money is paid directly from the insurance provider to the veterinary practise.
For Trupanion it averages a week, but it could be more or less. I’m not sure about other companies, but I would say up to 4-6 weeks. It depends on who you go through for insurance.
