How much would an appointment for a hamster with a vet cost?

I am considering taking my male 8-9 month old hamster to the vet because it is urinating blood.

First look in the phone book for a small animal vet. They specialize in hamsters, gerbils, rats ect… Then call and ask how much an office visit would be and make the appointment. Please do not let your hamster suffer, it’s cruel.

First, make every effort to get your little furry to the vet. Urinating blood is very serious.
Now, from what I’ve seen calling the vet in my area they seem to charge around the same amount regardless of breed (or size) of the pet.
So, for example, if your vet wants $100 (just an arbitrary number) to see your dog or cat, then it may be common they would want the same for your hamster’s visit.
Just make the phone call, or go straight away to the vet and get your hamster looked at … work out the details of the bill with the vet, most are compassionate towards animals … at least I sure would hope so.
Umm… probably $100 at the most, if they have to put him down, as long as you go during normal hours. If you go after hours, expect to pay $200 or more.
I had a gerbil break a leg, and it cost $60 to set his leg, put a cast on it, and all. He bit the vet and vet assistant for their troubles. He hasn’t bitten before or since.
Took another gerbil for respiratory illness, and it cost $28 to give him an exam and a shot of antibiotic.
Keep in mind I take my pets to the most expensive vet in town. But if your hamster is urinating blood, please please take him to the vet! If you can’t afford all at once, make a payment plan. Don’t let the little guy suffer!
I’m terribly sorry about your hamster! Listen, you can’t take a hamster to the vet, because there is no way the vet would be able to get a good look at it. To tell you the truth, my hamster started bleeding too, and there is just nothing you can do about it. My hamster bled for about…a month, and then he died. I’m very sorry to tell you that you will just have to sit back and enjoy every last moment you have with it.
Ok, you seemed to miss the point when I replied to your previous question.
If you do not take your hamster to the vets, it WILL die. There aren’t any minor ailments which make hamsters pee blood.
Not sure of the cost, sorry.
And to reply to the above.. they can treat wet tail, the earlier you go, the more likely. Worse case, they’ll have to put it down. Or do you love your hamster THAT MUCH, that you’d like it being in agony for a week, or even a month?
Well, it really depends on what your vet does to your hamster. It can cost from a few dollars to $20.00 or maybe even a little bit more. Your vet might give you some advice on what to do, or, the vet might give you some medicine for your hamster, which, can cost a little. Thanks, and good luck,

I took my hamster to the vet because she had a tumor, they gave her a full checkup, and gave her medicine for the tumor, and it only cost $60
Urinating blood is very bad and if you truly care about the hamster, it shouldnt matter the cost, just get it to the vet asap!
DancingNoodle is wrong, they can get a good look at the hamster. What we had to do, is since my hamster was a dwarf hamster, she was small and hard to handle, we sat down, me, my mom, the vet, and the vet tech. We all sat on the floor while the vet examined her, so he didn’t accidentally drop her. So yes, they can be examined, it just might take sittin on the floor
Dancing Noodle, you obviously dont know how to care for your pets! Of course you can take a hamster to the vet!
I had a hamster and it was very hard to find a vet that specialized in hamsters. You have to a exotic pet vet and for a check up its anywhere from $20-$70. And since yours is urinating blood, the vets will offer you medication to treat that. Which will cost $70-$100. Unless They have to do surgery or a treatment in the clinic, which will be close too $100-$400.

my dwarf hamster had an infection and it costed 70 bucks just for a ointment which i found out later was almost the same thing as neosporin! Then i brought in my rat and her tooth was over grown, and for it to get clipped and pain releiver only cost around 40 dollars. I depends on vet, and how bad the animal is. It can be more than if you bought 10 more hammies! But of course this should not matter, knowing that you love your hammy….. i hope
Your a sensible pet owner, it is vital, no matter how small a pet is to seek a vets opinion if something appears wrong with your pets health. My hamster is 16 months old, and every 6 months we take him to the vets just for a general check over, which is £12. If you are from America I guess thats around $20. Good luck
yes you better, and the prices vary from state to state, so be prepared, and ask to make payments if its too much.
