here are a few of mine:
Servers unite here! What do customers do that annoy you the most?
Here are a few of mine:
–People who act like it took you a life time to get to the table, and they are going to die with out the drink that they haven’t decided on yet
–Not once saying "thank you", "please", or any other hint of manners
–Being a party of 40 people and walking in WITHOUT a reservation and being pissed off because your 40 meals take long to cook.
–Telling you everything is fine when you ask them, eating the entire meal, getting the bill and then ALL OF A SUDDEN that burger, you know the one that you devoured? Yeah ALL OF A SUDDEN that burger was undercooked/gross/cold, whatever!
–Asking for you kids’ meals to be brought out first is fine. 10 minutes AFTER the server rang in the order, not so much.
–Not sitting where the hostess sat them, but telling you where they should sit, like it’s a big maze. By the window, on the bench, it’s too cold in this spot, I don’t want to see the bathrooms, too close to the kitchen, i want the booth that is one over, even though you just told me that it is closed off, etc.
–Unfriendly customers who sit there stone-faced when you ask how everything is…
–Waving frantically at the server when they have trays in their hand, and they CLEARLY know you’re on your way to another table.
–Staring down the customer, without puase or blink, with your neck craned as he/she takes the order of the table next to you, because you need them NOW
–interrupting the server who is talking to/selling stuff to, the table NEXT TO YOURS, because you need something RIGHT THIS MINUTE
– Act like it’s the server’s fault the coffee isn’t strong, and take it out on them the entire shift. (Servers don’t harvest the coffee beans!)
–Tell you they are ready to order and then you stand there and stand there while they finish deciding. ("you all go ahead, I’ll be ready when you get to me…….."uuuum, uum, um, um….")
–Customers who complain about everything either just for the fun of it or to get free stuff (probably an equal balance of the two, as rarely are the complaints valid)
–Asking for things is fine. But when they think that they are your only customer and ask for additional things ONE AT A TIME so you have to keep coming back, that’s inconsiderate. (ex. Can I have some A1? *brings you A1* Oh and I need horseradish. *brings you horseradish* I need some more tea now..)
–When you go up to a table to greet them and ask everyone how they are, and they stare at you like a deer caught in headlights.
–When you are bringing extremely hot food to a table, usually that is not yours so they don’t know what they ordered,.. that’s definately burning ur hands, and you simply ask "ok i have the burger and fries".. and no one replys like they completely forgot what they ordered.. [[this one is the worst! lol!]]
–When you are trying to clear a table in one go, so every clasping part of your body is full of dishes, and a guest tries to give you another.
–When you -seat/greet/go to take orders/check in on- some teenagers at a table, and they break into giggles and look at eachother every time, NOT ANSWERING ANYTHING, EVER.
–Old men that hit on you because they know you have nowhere to run
–When customers complain about something you cant control, the portion size or "it should be like this" Do they realize we dont control these things? We just bring it to the table.
– Making a stink about wanting a discount because you waited for a well-done steak for half an hour and refused to let us butterfly it to speed up the cooking time.
–When people have coupons for free meals and then tip based on the new bill, which is usually at least half of what it should be. (despite the fact that the work we did for your table was the work equivalent to the old bill)
And finally… [[and my personal all time pet peave just because it is so RUDE and demeans us as fellow human beings]]
–The classic demanding interruption. "Hi, how are you doing tod-" "I want a Coke."
