I have been thinking of switching my cats to a healthier cat food, they currently eat Fancy Feast and love it, but thier fur is dull, sheds ALOT even after I brush then regularly, and even though they looove eating it they end up throwing it up shortly afterwards. After a visit to the vet I was told to feed them either, Iams, Eukanuba, Nutro, Royal Canin, or Pro Plan from Purina. I read the ingrediants of all the cat foods recommended and only Nutro, and Royal Canin did NOT have by products. I know Nutro makes both MAX cat and Natural Choice, but I have a finicky cat that loves fancy feast, so which do you think would be a good choice?

Cat treats?

I had a quick question about cat treats.
I know with cat foods, there’s a certain criteria you should look for on the label of ingredients. Is it the same way for treats? If so, what are they? Thanks in advance.

If you search the internet you will find many many cases of cats getting sick or even dying from eating these foods, especially Special Kitty. All we ever fed our cat was Friskies and they seemed fine until about 2 weeks before the recall, they kept throwing it back up. I stopped feeding it to them and switched to Natural Balance but then the kind I was feeding them was recalled. I have been monitering them closely and they don’t seem affected. It was just a small bag of Green Pea and Venison split between 3 cats. I’m still feeding them Natural balance but not the recalled kind. I am thinking of switching to something else but I don’t want to feed them anything with Wheat gluten, rice, or anything made by Menu foods. The only thing I have found that isn’t is Natural balance and Halo and my cat refuse to eat Halo. I just wish that they would pull the Special Kitty and Friskies since it is making cats die. Is anyone still feeding their cat canned Friskies or Special Kitty?

and that’s just a few of the sites I found that had stuff on both these cat foods making cats sick or killing them.

In case you haven’t heard of this yet, there is a list of brands of pet food being recalled. This seems to be pretty serious that you check your cupboards for any of the brands being recalled and don’t feed them to your pets. For now, it seems that dry food is the safest way to go.
Please share this information with people and pet owners that you know.

This is what I found out about cat food.

I currently feed my cat a mix of Iams dry food and Friskies dry food, and canned food every other day… someone recently told me though that her cat instantly formed tumors after eating dry Iams food. Is this just a coincidence or is Iams not healthy for cats?

Does anyone have any tips on which cat foods are healthiest?

Thank you!

any other suggetions. I wish It didn’t have corn in it at all but as long as it isn’t one of the main ingredients its fine.
i read from vets it id fine to feed HIGH QUALITY cat food which is at least 33 percent or higher in protein. just never use generic cat foods. plus i have a kittem and it will be easier to buy a big bag of kitten chow (which is good because is is very high in protein but you CANNOT use CAT food. ) than it would to buy a bag of kitten chow and an expensive bag of ferret food.
