My ferret is playful and fun to watch, but she gets really boring really fast. Sugar’s about 6 and a half months, so she is rowdy. I’d like her to be more calm and loveable, and more like a companion than boring on legs. Any tips?

One of the reasons many people choose to have a pet is for companionship, which requires the owner to build a relationship with his or her pet. Relationships are a lot of work and requires those involved to pay attention and make adjustments. In the process, you not only learn new things about your companion, you learn new things about yourself. So, as you have worked to build a relationship with your pet what is the most important thing he or she has taught you about yourself?

I am a 14 year old girl and I have a 7-8 month old lop ear rabbit. She is my first rabbit and while I am at school, I believe she gets lonely and I would like to get her a companion. I have told my father that there will not be a problem with babies or anything but he will not let me get a second rabbit. How do I convince him? I think it would benefit my female rabbit a lot.
Thanks
I take very good care of my first rabbit and love her a lot.

How to introduce a ferret to cats?

I got my new ferret yesterday, She is about 2 and a half months old.
She hasn’t yet been introduced to the cats and we don’t want the ferret to hurt the cats. (We have heard that they can kill a cat and don’t want our cats to be hurt).

How do you go about introducing cats and ferrets?
And how is the best way to tame a scared ferret?
Also , we want to get her a companion.. How could we introduce them?

I am looking to find a well-mannered, older dog to live with an elderly couple. This dog needs to be one that will not be too hyper or get under their feet while they are walking, seeing as they have some mobility issues. I believe a retired service dog would be perfect. Can anyone help me find out where I can locate a companion in the Kansas City,Missouri area?

Thanks!!

He has been on Friskies (dry) his entire 13 years. I read that many commercial meat products are harmful to our companion friends, using dead animal parts and even diseased dead animal parts as ingredient. Despite the fact that cats are obligate carnivores, I have seen cats living a vegetarian diet and staying healthy. Are there food is still considered safe for them???

I am trying to find a new house, which is REALLY hard when ignorant insurance companies have banned my breed of dog (dobermann) my 1 1/2 year old neutered male dobe has gone through TONS of training and temperament tests, he is an all around great dog. However the only way to bring him into the house I am currently looking at is to have a prescription for a service or therapy dog. I know people with PTSD sometimes have therapy dogs but what other reasons would I might need a companion dog for?

Does your pet have a health issue?

Whether you have a puppy, old dog, kitten, old cat, rabbit, fish, horse, guinea pigs, or hamsters.. whatever pet you’ve chosen as your companion.. if they’re limping, having a hard time breathing, have a gross protruding lump from their skin, not eating/drinking, have diarrhea, a weird rash, smell funny, or doing things that are very unlike their personality.. PLEASE, for the love of God, do not get on Yahoo! Answers and ask people on the INTERNET how to fix your pets problem. CALL. A. FREAKING. VETERINARIAN. For christs sake, think if you were in their position.. would you take advice from a handful of idiots on a computer or trust the opinion of your doctor??? And even if there happens to be one soul on here that knows what they’re talking about.. you’re still going to get bombarded with answers from people who have no clue about animals that could lead you to confusion and improper treatment.

I’m really not trying to be offensive, but if you care about your pet.. call your vet.

Therapy dog/Service dog?

My 14 yr old autistic son was just granted a,’therapy dog’ by his physician. Is this not a service dog? It’s not just a companion. Can I get her trained as a service dog? I’m confused; the paperwork states, ‘therapy dog’. Can you help us?
Thanks in advance!
