My husband is planning on building our dog a dog house for outside. We have great dane mix puppy only about 5 months old, he’s far from being full grown so i’m not sure what his full grown measurements will be. How big should an average great danes dog house be? we’ve looked at a few designs and we want to build one with a door on the front left side and inside it has a little half wall kind of thing so he can go to the right side and be blocked from the wind and rain and everything else. any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Rescue Member – STOP JUDGING… anywhere in my question did i say i lock him outside all the time? No i did not. I love my dog and he is a great companion. did it ever occur to you that when i do put him outside on occasion, that i would like him to feel just as loved as if he was inside with me? have you ever had so much company that you want your dog outside so he doesn’t bother them? i don’t want to just put him out in my back yard, this house is for him to be in when he just can’t be inside with me! Thank you for all your help!

I mean, our new parakeet (we bought it as a companion to our other) seems to always have his feathers fluffed up. I think it means he is either cold or sick, but someone told me it means he’s happy and content? Who’s right, or are we both wrong?
You all answered pretty much the same, so I am letting it go to vote. BTW, after settling in he stopped being "inflated" all the time.

My Puggle puppy is 12 weeks old and has just started with green diarrhea and bright red blood spots in the stool. I am worried but cant afford the vet right now. She is all set on shots right now.Any advice what the puppy may have or what to do would be greatly appreciated. I live iin Nassau county NY.
I bought the puppy for my daughter so she has a friend. We just moved out of state and put a hefty deposit on a house. I will have my paycheck on Friday but 12 Vets including the SPCA said they will not do anything without money in hand. I even offered to write a check and it would clear Friday and they said no. I bought her a puppy from my heart to give her a companion in this difficult time and I am insulted by the answers I get from people on this. Has nobody in this forum ever had financial difficulty. I would prefer if you cant help keep your hurtful comments to yourself.

Im going to get a kitten because my parents are splitting up and i need a companion. I dont want to declaw my kitten unless thats my only option. I saw an add for softpaws and i like the idea but it looks like too much of a hassel. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to train my kitten to only scratch on the scratching post and not on my dads furniture. Thanks for any advice
Much appreciated

I have a 7 year old, male, unneutered black lab who digs inside and outside. To be honest, I could care less if he digs outside but digging inside and ruining carpet is unacceptable. He gets two long walks each day so lack of exercise doesn’t seem to be the issue here. During the day he is confined to a 600 sq. ft. room, has a dog bed, toys, food/water and even has a dog companion. Declawing doesn’t seem like a good option for dogs. I don’t know what else to do? Would neutering make a difference?

The person is chronically depressed and his/her doctor mandated an "emotional support animal". Economic assitance (covering associated costs) is needed for the care of a service dog (ie. food provisions, vet care, training as a companion dog, grooming, etc.).

I want to get me a Chihuahua. The questions I have are:
1. Can they be trained to be a service dog?
2. How can I train my dog so that I can get it it certified.
3. How do I go about getting the dog certified as a service dog?
right now the main thing i need is a companion dog. I know i am going blind and will need a dog for that. a small breed dog is my choice of dogs because they protect me more from creeps.
