The last "reported" number I saw was 16, but I think that is a bunch of crap!! My sister’s co-worker is probably going to lose his dog; the poor thing has been at the vet’s office for 5 days and isn’t getting better. My vet has lost 3 animals and another local vet has lost 2, so I figure if 5 pets are known to have died from this (within a 35-mile radius of me), the number has to be in the thousands nation-wide! And, no telling how many pets died from "unknown" causes before all of this hit the news. I think these pet food companies should come clean and tell us the truth! I feed her the Ol’Roy jerky treats they just recalled, and I am scared to death that my food (Little Cesar’s) is going to be next, even though they say not. (I’m overreacting I guess.) But, everytime I feed my miniature dachshund, Laci, I feel like I’m signing her death warrant!

it says on the bag that it’s the #1 food according to vets, but i read that if the first ingredient is corn it is no good. this is the only food that her vet sells. i don’t live anywhere close to an actual pet store. if i were to go to one, which food would i need to look for if science diet is really no good? i have a 7 year old mini dachshund and someone on here told me that crappy food may be the cause of her skin allergy that keeps coming back. thanks for all answers!

My dog is a Mini Dachshund and he has ate some of his food, but he now eats the cats, and now he does not eat really and he is hungry but I don’t know what to do? Should I get him a new kind or is ok if he eats the cat’s food?

I am trying to train a 4 mth old Dachshund to use a dog litter box. This has become a challenge because I can never seem to catch him when he goes *he always hides* and he seems to think the dog litter is food. Anyone have any advice on this? He always has problems with chewing and barking when I leave…I’ve sprayed most stuff with bitter spray to detour him from it..any advice is much appreciate..

I have two dachshund and there ears look diff, one holds up his ears all the time, the other one lets hers hang, Why is this? I anyone eles see this before?
There ears are not clipped, I have them both since 8 weeks old, His ears do not stand up all the way, they do flop over, its like he holds them up at the base of his ears

I have a 6 months old dwarf lion head rabbit as a house rabbit. I am going to get a puppy, which out of these choices would be best seeing as i have a rabbit –

-Miniature Dachshund
-Beagle
-Pug
-Spaniel

I would rather get a beagle though.

Also how could I introduce them as my rabbit is quite small.
Any tips on anything about this subject is helpful thanks.

I might be getting a dachshund around november and december yay! I am sooo excited, I am going to look on petfinder for a long haired!!! My brother and I have to walk it twice a day and he says he won’t cuz it’s a "girly" dog… he is sooo shallow. anyhoo he will have to. I would like to know some things about dachshunds like, are they hyper, are they loving, are they good with being alone during the day a little bit….

my dachshund will get walked at 6:00 or around then let out by me before I go to school at 7:30 to pee and poo
my mom will check up on her at 12 and play with her let her do her buisness for an hour then I get home at 3ish and take her out for another walk and i play with her for the rest…

should I get the dog supplies before we know we will be getting the dog during the adoption process or after we know we will be getting the one we applied for? What toys do your dogs love what beds and food are the best what treats are good…??? please also add how to dog proof homes I just know the basics!

I am thinking about getting my Dachshund registered as a therapy dog so that she can go into nursing homes and brighten the citizens lives. She is 7 years old and a very sweet dog. She is great in her obedience. She also loves everyone. I know some places you have to take a test. I live in AL where are some places that I could take the test and what does the test include? Is there anything that I would need to know about doing this? Thanks!
I wouldn’t need to contact a trainer since I am one myself Which is why I said she is great in obedience. She also knows 94 commands, tricks, and words.
