Low-waste cat food and cat-box finickiness issues?

I’m looking for a low-waste cat food. Now that I have two-grown cats, they are pooping machines! I am having to change the litter box way more frequently (every other day with non-clumpable litter like Fresh Step gel crystals) than I used to since I changed them to Science Diet food because I heard it was better for them. They have previously been on Iams and Eukanuba. Today I bought a 0 dollar Scoop-Free litter box to help keep their litter even cleaner, but thought I would even take an additional step to keep litter box cleaner, such as low-waste food. I’ve never had a problem with too much waste in litter box, but recently, cleaning lady closed closet door to litter box, so kitties had no choice but to crap outside litter box. Now, they are exceptionally picky with cleanliness of litterbox since they feel like they have "options" now — even though carpets have been cleaned MULTIPLE times. Suggestions???
OK, folks, be reasonable… I have cleaned the carpet — more times than normally expected. I have tried clumping litter; my cats hate it –thus using gel crystals (which I find to be best after 20 yrs of owning cats).

And, don’t tell me to move my litter box — I have now blocked the closet door so that it cannot be closed.

And, I will not go to a raw diet — I think only crazy cat people do that. I’m a normal person with two cats that I love and I’m trying to take care of. They get very good dental care, vet care, and good play time / interaction, but I am not spending more time on their food than I do my own. AND, I do love them more than I love myself. I just don’t have 2 hours a day to devote to feeding them in addition to the other hours of love I give them every day.

And, YES, there are such things as low-waste food. Do your research!!! I’m just asking what the best are.

Anybody out there have a "reasonable" answer??? ANY BODY who is a "real" person??
AND, I do NOT need more than 2 litter boxes. They have lived completely fine with one litter box for nearly a year — they are just having issues since the cleaning lady locked them out of their litter box (last 4 weeks). Up until then, they were fine. So, now what????

My cat’s vet recommended Science Diet or Eukanuba with low ph. My cat had surgery several years ago for a blocked (crystals) urinary tract system. The vet at the time said he would always have to be on their special vet diet food (low ph Eukanuba or Science Diet). A new Vet has since taken her place and he has not given me a straight answer. I was wondering if anyone else knows of a food that is low in ph that can be fed to a cat that has had crystal blockage. Oh, before he had the crystal blockage, I was feeding him Friskies because that was all that he would eat. The vet told me that was what caused it; that and stress from getting a new dog addition to the family.

Science Diet Light a good dog food?

My dog has to lose about 8 lbs and my vet recommended Science Diet Light or MediCal (dry dog food). I’m leaning towards Science Diet Light because the MediCal is very expensive. However I’ve read some mixed reviews about the Science Diet food. Does it have a lot of filler junk in it or is it a good quality dog food. My dog needs a low calorie, low fat dry dog food.

They just sniff it and won’t eat it. I tried mixing it in with the remaining science diet food and they just spit out the new food. Will they eventually start eating it?

I ran out of the old type of the cat food and I’m trying to get my cat to switch to a new food because I’ve recently learned that science diet food is crappy. I was wondering if I bought the new type of the food she’s used to, would she still eat that so I could mix the new food with it?
garnetcobriana- That’s why I’m switching to a new food. I just need to mix the new food so my cat will eat the better food that I’ve already bought her. Didn’t you read the details?
