I don’t really trust what vets say with regard to food and treats since mine told me to only feed my dog dry food because it’s better for his teeth.
I am in Ireland and there is no such thing as a good pet shop here so we are limited to rawhide or nothing for a treat.
He has a Kong but I have never put peanut butter in it! I think he would like that but isn’t peanut butter also bad for them?
Also if rawhide is so bad for dogs why is it sold so widely?

Could it be that the manufacturers haven’t fully investigated the situation, and just maybe the dry food has also been contaminated? My otherwise healthy cat – suddently became ill and past away cause kidney failure. I used a dry product by one of the manufacturers listed on the list and purchased it in Walmart. I am freaking out that I could have fed my Cat contaminated food that caused her to get fatally ill. Can someone please let me know if they have heard anything about this. I have had no luck and haven’t had a response from the company. Thank you.

We’ve just bought two 3 month old, kittens and the spare bedroom where they now live smells of the cat food. The litter tray doesn’t seem too bad, apart from when you pick up the poo. What are the best products to use?
Also, does anyone know of any good devices of storing cat poo, making it easier than having to put in a bag and take it out to the garbage every time?
We bought a self distributing dry food feeder. Is it bad for the cat to have a supply of food permanently available or should you put food out at specific intervals?
Also, how often should you change the water in a self distributing water dispenser? After 2 days it’s already bubbled up and looks old to me, but the kittens are still drinking it.

I want to feed raw but we have large dogs and can’t afford for them to eat raw 7 days a week.
So I was wondering if I can give them a raw meal once or twice a week and their regular dry food for the rest of the week. Or will this mess up their digestive system?

As my dog has aged, she has since stopped liking to eat any of the dry food we give her. We have tried adding pumpkin (something our vet suggested) to adding her favorite fruit apples but it doesn’t seem to work. Whenever we feed her either homemade or store-bought wet food she eats it right away. I have a lot of dry food left over. I read that if you add hot water to dry dog food it becomes almost the same thing as store wet food. Will this work? Any other suggestions?

Dog and cat lovers, please go to www.menufoods.com/recall/product. I found the report rather confusing but reports of dogs and cats having kidney failure from many brands of pet food has prompted a huge recall in both the US and Canada. Has your pet become sick recently or died from kidney failure? My 14 yr. old Dalmatian nearly died on Christmas Eve from toxic mold in Beneful dry food, now even the canned food is suspect.
