What is wrong with Iams and Eukanuba?

i think they are good foods to feed my pets.
why do some people dis them?
i was feeding my dog puppy chow, and cats whiskas, but when my in-laws watched my dog, they fed her iams and said her poop became a lot easier to handle, and didn’t go as much, and the eukanuba rep said that you feed less often, and they poop less, and will not always smell like a wet dog.

Because I have a maltese dog she is about 4 years old and I am not sure if it would be ok to feed her Iams puppy food….but I usually feed her eukanuba (not sure how it is spelled) dog food and thats what I am supposed to feed her but she seems not to like it and she won’t eat it! So what am I supposed to feed her besides that?

IF YOU GO TO CERTAIN WEBSITES YOU WILL SEE THAT IAMS, EUKANUBA AND SCIENCE DIET ARE TRULY THE WORST FOOD YOU CAN FEED ANY ANIMAL, DO YOUR RESEARCH! YOU ARE KILING YOUR PETS!

Ingredints-dried lamb meat 27%,ground rice 26%,rice bran, rice gluten, rice flour, beet pulp, poultry fat 8.0%,sunflower oil 2.5%, potassium chloride, dried kelp, dried egg product

The breeder gave me 5 bags of this. Along with a bag of eukanuba and pedigree.
They also gave me this oatmeal looking stuff with a yellow powder and 10 lbs of beef, they said I mix it with noodles and/or rice, and leeks or another cooked veggie and or fruit-they gave me a list of veg and fruit to use, and feed this at night time, what is the oatmeal looking stuff, and which dry food is best out of the three. Also they gave me 5 cans wet food of the same brands listed above. What the heck am I supposed to feed my puppy? This is a lot of food, and I am confused. Also, they gave me a big container of the oatmeal/meat/noodle casserold premade, but they also gave me giant containers of the oatmeal and yellow powder, so I could make it myself.

A humane society in my area took in over 30 dogs and a couple horses and some other animals, they dont have the room or funds to take care of them. I would like to foster, but since I cant, I thought I would donate some food. I want to donate good stuff, like purina, royal canin, eukanuba (sp?) or even science diet.

are there places that provide cupons so i dont go broke? i usually donate to 3 other animal services for christmas, but if i spend a fortune on this shelter, i wont be able to help the 3 i’m usually involved in.

I know that Eukanuba is a division of Iams…but is there a difference in the foods?

Okay, I have two dogs, a one year old Lab, and a 12 week old Boxer. We switch around their dog foods a lot, depending on what name brand is cheapest, what coupons we have, etc.
Among some of the brands we use include Beneful, Pedigree, Almo (which we prefer not to feed), IAMS, Eukanuba, and some others. Occasionally, they will get a tidbit of a french fry or some hamburger or something, but that’s it.
I am not kidding. To some people, this seems like I am desecrating my poor pups bodies.
What is the big hurrah over the raw food diet? I understand that there was the scare of the dog food being contaminated, but with the economy in the state it is currently, it seems a complete waste of money to provide meats that I can scarcely afford to have, let alone an animal who has a wholesome meal for $.60 a can, plus for an almost 18 pound bag. It is so much more economical, and time saving than working over creating a meal for a dog. I love my pups as much as the next person, do not dare criticize me of that, but when I cannot afford lamb, or enough beef for both me and the dog to eat, than why should the animal win over myself?
I am the one caring for the animal.
Would you cat owners buy a fillet of salmon and some shrimp, and then stop by your local pet food store and stock up on some rats to feed your cat? Probably not. That is what the cat ate before it was domesticized to what it is now, and what they continue to eat when they catch their own prey, but under no circumstances, I believe would a cat owner choose to make cat food over just buying it.
Maybe I ranted, but in any case, I want to know the answer. You can’t really change my mind on how to feed my dogs, but I would like to know why other people see this way of nutrition as the ONLY way.
Thank you.
Although I was quite happy while reading the first few posts, those of you who believe that because those of us pet owners who say we "cannot afford" feeding our pets a raw food diet is a poor and weak excuse really disappointed. You are part of my problem with pet owners who believe that the raw food diet is the only way. You look down on those who feed their dogs canned food or just regular brands of dog food, because we either choose not to, or are not able to expend the extra effort to prepare meals for our pets.
Yes, pets are a luxury, but does that mean that they should be eating luxuriously too?
Keeping a dog healthy and happy is the main key. Making sure that they are properly exercised, groomed, mentally stimulated, and in good health, on top of the unknown expenses of sudden illnesses or injuries adds up to a good deal of time and effort spent solely on the animal.

Is Nutro-Max pet food the same as Wal-mart pet food?

From a news article: "Menu Foods last week recalled "cuts and gravy" style dog and cat food. The recall sparked concern among pet owners across North America. It includes food sold under store brands carried by Wal-Mart, Kroger, Safeway and other large retailers, as well as private labels such as Iams, Nutro and Eukanuba."

I want to feed my cat high-quality cat food. But this recall has given me the feeling that they are making the same food and slapping different labels on them. Am I wrong to think this?

I was personally more that a little shocked to find out that such supposedly premium and healthier brands like Nutro, Iams and Eukanuba apparently are serving the same content as several bargain and generic store brands. I was especially shocked to see Science Diet listed, as it has been recommended on more that one occassion by vets for my then-ailing pets.

For years I served Nutro Max to my late dog who had serious skin allergies – under the misconception that it was somehow healthier (it was, to the extent that it helped his skin)

I’m not knocking the nutritional content of "menufoods" per se, especially given that investigators are now speculating that the gluten content was contaminated with rat poison. I am not impressed however that such supposed premium brands are in essence the same food as the genric store brands.

Personally, now that I can afford it I feed my pets nothing but organic pet foods.
it’s not just that they are using the same gluten.. they’re using the same gravy and chunks.. "menufoods" is a rendering and processing facility
