I have a 55 gallon aquarium, it’s about three weeks old but the filter cartridges are pretty dirty already. There is also a lot of debris like tiny pieces of dead plant and whatnot that is stuck to them and behind them.

Anyway, I know all the rules for rinsing cartridges (don’t use hot or warn or cold water, dont use soap, detergent, or any other chemicals, etc) but what I’m wondering is, is it too soon to rinse the cartridges that I have now (in terms of bacteria longevity) or will it be okay?

Also, it’s a freshwater, tropical tank.

I’m getting another bird and I don’t room in my room to put the second cage, unless by the window, which is too dangerous. Is it safe to put two cages on top of each other? I have seen breeders do it.

My dog, when he starts running really fast in the yard, always runs in the shape of an eight. I have never seen another dog do this – usually they run in a circle or run randomly. Is there some reason why he wold run in figure eights?

I’d like to set up a bird feeder, and I live in a suburb about 10 mi south of Boston. What I do not want to do is feed any invasive birds, like house sparrows, european startlings, or rock pigeons. Are there any seeds or suet cakes on the market that are rejected by these species? Are there any other tricks to feeding only native species? Thanks.

My pet turtle just ate some playdoh and he ate about a whole mini container of it! Will it harm him or is it going to hurt him?

I just bought a Family Cat Two Story Tower scratching post from Petco. It has catnip in it and the cat is already going crazy! He is a 7 month Siamese Snowshoe and it doesn’t take too much to get him crazy so it may not actually be from the catnip. We were wondering how long the catnip will take to wear off of the scratching post and how much it will affect him. We also just got a 3 month kitten today and are curious about how it will affect him as well.

I just got a dog, he’s 5 and he is already house trained. However yesterday I found a urine stain, that is no older than a week old (since thats how long I have had him!). I have no idea what to use to get it out (I really need my deposit back!) along with the odor so nothing happens in that area again. Anyone know of some helpful things, prefereably cheapest first!
