Does anyone know of any good pet insurance for multiple dogs?
I have five Chihuahuas, that I want to get health insurance for. Do you know of any, that are reasonable, and cover everything! Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I recently began looking online, for health insurance for my one dog, a 16 month old female German Shepherd. She does have certification by PennHip, but one never knows what could happen, so I thought I would shop.
I found a lot of small print and tricky language on the very first company I looked at, VPI, I think. The plan I selected said it covered hip dysplacia, but then I clicked on "restrictions" and found the term excluding "certain conditions" I emailed the company and asked what are the "certain" conditions? I received an email and was told hip dysplacia. ;-/
So, I am a a leary shopper for pet health insurance. Insurance companies, banks, they both are tricky and I am miffed. Could sure use someones advice on which company to look at.
Last week I had a health scare with my 3 year old beagle, Tater Salad, and am now almost 00 dollars in the hole! YIKES! I have two beagles, I love them both to distraction and NEVER want to be in a position where I cannot pay for treatment for them. This was a real wake up call- emergency vet care is EXPENSIVE, and it doesn’t matter if your dogs are young and healthy. Anything can happen, and everyone who has a pet should think about what they would do in an emergency situation.
Also, ANY dog can develop bloat- even a 20 lb. beagle. It’s more rare for smaller dogs, but can still happen- if your dog is obsessively swallowing, licking the air, vomiting foam, dry heaving repeatedly, burping, etc. get him to the vet right away. My dog was bloated without the usual "twisted stomach" (thank god), and did not need surgery. If he had, I would be looking at a much steeper bill…
Long story short, for those of you who have gotten pet health insurance- What company would you recommend, and why? Who would you steer clear of? What has been your experience w/your company, and how does it work? Like, do you have to carry an insurance card, or do you get reimbursed? And what exactly does pet insurance cover?
Thanks in advance!
There are so many companies offering health insurance for pets and I’m not sure which are the good ones and which are the bad ones.
Are there any cat pet health insurance plans that most vets accept? And if so, do all of them have a fee that is connected? Please help, my cat’s sick.
I recently got an albino corn snake, his name is Fleet Admiral Slinky, he’s a juvenile and in good health. Today contacted a vet that had been recommended to be by my local zoo (The reason for this was to see how much it would cost for a check up and to find the actual gender of the snake) and found that prices were much more then I had anticipated.
It was for this reason that I started looking into pet health insurance. VPI is the only insurance that covers snakes and other exotic pets. My problem is I have heard both very good and very bad things about the reliability of the company.
My wish is for anyone who has or has had this insurance (especially if it was to cover an exotic animal) to tell me their experiences with the company.
I’d like to thank Saucy for replying to my question. I decided to edit the details a bit to clear up one thing.
I don’t anticipate my snake becoming sick because I do take careful care of him. On the other hand I do want to protect against accidental injuries as well as the off chance that something happens. I can’t afford to dish out 0 dollars for a check up let alone 00 dollars for an emergency. If VPI is a good insurance then I feel comfortable paying the dollars a month to keep myself from getting an unwanted vet bill and ensuring that he can get care.
I find it insulting that only rich people’s pets are being taken care of properly when they get sick. Health insurance should be a basic right of all pets.
Matt Lauer did an interview this morning on Pet Health Insurance Policies. Do you or would you purchase a policy for your pet. I have a policy. If your interested you can go to my group for the link to get more information.

I have a litter of two that are currently 6 weeks (tomorrow). I am planning on enrolling each of them in a year of pet health insurance…basic coverage, no vaccines and such covered unless the owners want to pay that.
Anyone have thoughts on which company is the best. We have VPI for one of our dogs, but since then there seems to be more choices.
Any suggestions?????
