I just bought a Family Cat Two Story Tower scratching post from Petco. It has catnip in it and the cat is already going crazy! He is a 7 month Siamese Snowshoe and it doesn’t take too much to get him crazy so it may not actually be from the catnip. We were wondering how long the catnip will take to wear off of the scratching post and how much it will affect him. We also just got a 3 month kitten today and are curious about how it will affect him as well.

my new 3 month old kitten keeps on clawing at the couch, i sprayed her with water but doesn’t seem to work, she’ll do it again how do i stop her her without special attention like catnip, treats or toys.

We have a 4 year old cat now and he weighs 19 pounds and he is box trained. We are thinking about getting a 10 week old kitten. She is not box trained and she is currently outside with her brothers at this person’s house that is giving them away. Do you think it will be hard to box train a kitten even when we got a cat that is box trained already??

I have a kitten with a cleft palate and I’m think about finding an insurance plan for him since it’s likely that he’ll need many different vet visits and even a few surgeries. Some pet insurance plans cover hereditary conditions but not pre-existing.
What would a cleft palate be classified as? I don’t think cleft palates are really hereditary, but they are -genetic- or environmental. What do birth defects fall under?

We rescued a kitten this morning. She was in the middle of the road, lying in a puddle. Vet said she’s got fleas. So we’re getting that taken care of and she also got her shots. She’s about 8 weeks old. I’m an animal person, and have the time/availability and expenses to take care of her.. so I’ll be keeping her if nobody claims her. My questions are: How to train her to use her litter box and to scratch her post? I’ve heard horror stories of cats ruining furniture, but I know with the right training and handling it can be avoided.. so please dish out all of your information!

My family wants a ferret. Incl. the hubby. We currently have a kitten but have to get rid of it because of allergies. So…my question is what is the best thing to you and the worst thing about having a ferret??

Just wondering- because my 6 month old kitten won’t use the scratching post and we aren’t always there to encourage her when we’re at work in the day- if soft claws www,softclaws.com are a good non-cruel alternative?
they’re only for two weeks whilst she goes to stay with my parents so its a non- permanent thing.

just wondering if anyone has an opinion on them or advice ?

I have a 10 week old kitten he has for the last 2 days peeed in my dog bed and not in his litter box.
He has beed vwery good to use his litter box for his bowls. But not to pee. Please tell me what I can do to stop this.

I’ve got a new kitten who is not-quite-3-months old. He hasn’t started loosing his baby teeth yet, but he loves to chew on things, and with his age, I know it’s coming. Would it be safe for him to have one of those little rawhide "bones" like you’d give a dog to chew?
