Every time my mom washes dishes or one of us is in the shower our parakeet chirps excessively,until the water is off. He’s fine with the toilet flushing, but just running water.

I’m trying to teach my new parakeet how to step up and how to trust me more. I already have one parakeet that I taught without treats (because he wouldn’t eat any I offered him) but my new one just isn’t cooperating. Any suggestions on good treats? Or simply alternatives to treats?

I bought a new parakeet yesterday, he’s been standing on the perch for the whole day today and yesterday. He barely eats the food and the water. I think he’s just scared because of the new environment, what should i do to make him feel more comfortable, and how do i gain his trust?

Are there any like "signs" or clues to see if a parakeet if naturally kind and pet able? We’re going to the pet store to get new parakeets. I just want a bird my kids can pet happily!

I feed my parakeet a small piece of broccoli every day. He absolutely loves it. Is a small piece every day too much?

i have an old bird cage that’s been sitting in my garage and i just got a new parakeet. the older parakeet that was here before it doesn’t like the new parakeet, so i’m just going to put one parakeet in the small cage and the other in the larger cage right next to it, so that they get used to eachother without being aggressive and/or territorial. how to i make this new bird feel at home in the cage? is there anything i can do to stop my older, aggressive bird from picking fights with the new one? thx

I’ve been having my parakeet for 5 wks now and he’s doing well but somehow I can’t seem to get him to step up on my finger. The 2nd week I had him I stroked his chest with a straw and then he tried to step onto it which I didn’t let him cuz he would’ve fallen. I tried pencils and everything. Nothing. He let’s me stroke his tummy to a minimum of 5 xs that’s it. Help.

sorry if this is a dumb question lol but i’m really wondering, can newborn parakeets hop out of the spaces in a bird cage if they’re not inside a proper nest during the time they are growing?
and also, about how long does the mother stay with it’s baby parakeet until it’s safe for it to wander on it’s own?
thanks!..i wasn’t even thinking about breeding my birds. but today i came in the room and saw them mating on the perch! they don’t even have a nest! is there certain types of fruits i should put in the cage for the baby parakeet?

My parakeet hates water, but I think that it may be bad for his hygiene to not have baths. Any advice please?

I’m thinking in buying two parakeets and perhaps to breed.
I would also like to know more about being a parakeet breeder?
Or just raising parakeets as companions.
What do you need before buying a parakeet?
