FACT: There are more uninsured pets than people in the U.S. by a 3 to 1 margin.
FACT: Pets cannot be expected to pay for their own health care since the government prevents them from holding down paying jobs.
FACT: Federalized preventative care for pets would save the U.S. Economy billions in more expensive veterinary care — including expensive drugs, surgeries, chemo-therapy and specialized foods.
FACT: Employers and existing State and Federal Programs do not provide pet care to their employees and offer no subsidy for pet care to the working poor creating pet-care gap between the wealthiest and poorest Americans.
FACT: Pet Health insurers are making enormous profit margins insuring healthy pets, but limit what they will pay when pets get sick, can cancel sick pets and have limitations on coverage for preexisting pet conditions.
FACT: Pets are not consulted in end of life decisions and millions are literally being euthanized because the show up in need of medical care that no one is willing or able to pay for.
FACT: Happy and healthy pet contribute to the productivity of their owners and reduce the number of sick days, the number of days they stay home with sick pets and extend the life span of those who own them.
FACT: By taxing wealthy Americans and veterinarians, we can show compassion for the most vulnerable among us without asking any sacrifice from the 98% of Americans.

The President appointed a deputy attorney general who advocated for pets to be allowed to be represented by attorneys — this is not "straying" to far from that notion.
OK, so perhaps we should require proof of pet insurance when you adopt a pet and a tax penalty if you let it lapse after adoption?
