So I was just listening to channel 9 news and I heard they added new foods to the pet recall list. Did I hear right that “Pounce” was one them. I JUST bought these treats for a cat that has been coming over the house a lot. Thank goodness she didn’t come around today. Also, “Jerky Strips” for dogs… were those pet food recalled to? I do feed my dog a type of Jerky Strip treat; however, I just threw them in the trash. I just printed the list from the website, but I do not know if it is an updated version.

One more thing, does this recall only affect “wet” pet food? Or is dry food also affected. Because from the looks of it, there is practically no pet food left to chose from.

Also, another question… someone on this page, and the news said alot of pet owners have switched to "organic" pet foods. Does anyone have a name of any of these pet foods that are organic.

If organic food is the way to go then I am going down to petco first thing tomorrow.

After studying Marine Biology for a year and working at an Aquarium for over four I have a point I would like to make about tuna.

Please avoid eatting tuna more than once a month, and avoid giving it to your pets.

Tuna contains LARGE amounts of Mercury in it due to the fisheries not taking care of their fish. Eatting more than one can of tuna a month for to long can lead to serious complication in humans, and I can only assume in animals. Even resulting in death.

The reason your vet may have recomended it may have been because back then this theory about tuna was not known.

Please reserch this theory further for those of you who may be skeptic.

A question asked repeatedly is "what kind of cat/dog food should I feed my pet?" I think some of us get angry at the well-meaning people who are recommending top shelf STORE BRANDS which are still junk. I know I used to be a person who thought I was doing good by buying the most expensive brand at the department or grocery store. Then I read the book, "Foods Pets Die For" and now I am a pet food snob. I buy only high end foods. Some people think that certain foods sold by many vets are good because the vets recommend them. Those foods used to be good until the companies were bought up by large corporations who produce mass quantities of pet foods with various names. Those companies often provide food free or at large discounts to vets and staff…so yes, they are still recommended by them. PLUS they make money on the brand they recommend.

What made you a pet food snob? And what advice can you give to the uninformed to convince them to switch to quality pet food?

i have seen the list of foods that claim they do not use menufoods or the wheat gluten from the same place and i have the list that menue foods released about affected wet pet foods. where can i find information about nutro dry food and the recalls? or where they get their ingredients from?

I was just wondering if wet or dry- or both kinds of pet foods are on recall? I have heard just wet food from some people, but both from others. I feed my 2 dogs wet food, and my cats dry and wet food.
Also, does anyone know if Purina brands, Dad’s brand, or blue seal (cat and dog krunchies)brand is on recall?

I fed him some of the brands pet foods on the recall list, how do I know whether or not his condition was not caused by this food? His condition was rather sudden and did not give us a lot of warning. My whole family was devestated by his death. We consider our animals part of the family!
