Newly adopted bunny since neutered was adopted from large pet shop where hed been kept in a glass cage for several weeks as noone wanted to buy him (he couldnt compete with the baby bunnies). Hes a bit antisocial unsurprisingly but is OK ish about being picked up but attacks (with rabbit punches) whenever we put food in the hutch.
I bought my winter white hamsters 1 month ago. They aged around 3 to 4 weeks when i bought it. A female and a male. They were from the same cage when i bought it from the pet shop. At first, they were fine and all but recently they started to squeak at each other. Im not able to tell weather they are mating or fighting but i once found out that one of them is bleeding at the edge of its leg.
My husband came home tonight with a 5 week old puppy that is clearly to young to be away from her mother. I dont have one penny to my name for weeks to come but I do have a dog that is a lil over a yr old. The pup whines and suckles my fingers so Im assuming she’s hungry and wants moms milk. My friend also has a pup from the same litter and her puppy eats moistened dog food and drinks water but this one does not. What can I do at this point? Since its the first night and all she wants to do is sleep should I just wait to see what tomorrow brings with her feeding habits? Thats really the only thing im worried about. Ideas? BTW please don’t bash me because she’s 5 weeks Hubby has already been chewed out. I just need to know what to do now. BTW I have a coupon for some free puppy chow and off any product from a local pet shop which I intend to use tomorrow. what should I get? I know she’s going to have to be vaccinated and wormed with a milder wormer the day I get some cash. So again Ideas and suggestions only please!
Well later tonight she ended up having some doggy food that was wet and a little bit of water and then followed our other bully outside to make doody and came back in to play with Shebas pull toy shaking it around and dragging it around lol.

I am 20 years old. I work as an assistant veterinarian. I am currently looking for a second job or even a different job that pays more and has benefits. However, I do still live at home.
We have a 3 year old Jack Russell terrier my mom fell in love with when she saw her at a pet shop. She’s a great dog. Occasionally she has her moments, but she’s brilliant.
I’ve been at the vet clinic for a year now and for the entire year I see puppies come and go and am always wishing I could take one home. Especially, these recent JRT pups. I love the tri-colored male and the people who are selling them are selling them VERY cheap because they are going out of the JRT breeding business due to nobody wanting any these days. They’re even finding home for some of the parents.
I have the appropriate job. I get BIG discounts at my job. Those puppy visits for all the booster shots will be very cheap and I will be able to purchase all the necessities for this dog. I can afford it. And I obviously have the knowledge on how to care for a dog appropriately.
Yet, my parents hem and haul about it. I think a past experience with a rather awful lab/border collie mix of mine has them thinking I will repeat the past. In a nutshell, the dog was highly destructive, very independent, and stubborn as heck. I was upset then, but I understand why they had me take her to the SPCA. I was not ready financially to care for that dog and I was not ready to train that dog like she should have been. That and she was just one of those bad dogs.
My parents keep saying I don’t need a dog of my own. Of course nobody needs a dog, but I want one. It’s hard working at my job with other employees who have 4 dogs a piece and are buying new dogs every week and then there is me feeling like a young married woman who has friends having kids and I’m still kid-less. It’s gotten to the point I want to leave the job just to leave the environment. It really hurts me emotionally.
I completely understand why my parents don’t want me to have a dog. They know right now in 2 months I might end up in an apartment somewhere that doesn’t allow dogs or move out of town completely. They are afraid I’ll get the hellion dog, and nobody can guarantee a dog won’t be bad because all of them are different. They’re afraid of furniture being eaten. They think the dog will not be cared for. Etc.
Unlike the last dog, this one WOULD be kenneled during the day when nobody is home. We have a cage for a JRT-sized dog. Even if I did move where I can’t take my dog, I’d take him as soon as I could and I’d still pay for all costs including possible damages and food costs. Everything.
I’ve approached my mom on the subject a couple times, but she turns a blind eye and does the whole "pretend her daughter is talking about something else" thing. Then her most recent argument to the subject is she doesn’t want 2 crazy Jack Russells running around because ours is wild enough. I told her…they’d entertain one another. She just raises an eyebrow and has bad images I am sure.
And I am fully prepared to have to take the dog to a new home if it doesn’t work out. As hard as it would be for me, usually my parents know when enough is enough. I just wish they’d give me this second chance. I was asking for a Boxer, but I know that’d be a large dog in the house they aren’t ready for. And, one as wired as a terrier too.
I also said if they let me get the puppy I’d sell my birds which I still will most likely do here soon anyway (4 doves who DRIVE them insane with their nonstop cooind)
I want honest opinions, especially those from adults who have kids. What would you do in my situation?
I’m sure the best idea is to just forget the whole thing, but in a few weeks I’ll have all these feeling rushing back to me when another cute face in a litter looks up at me.
Not getting some other breed. I know how long a commitment with them will be. I have birds who have a lifespan of 20 years, but I have come to the realization that I need to find them new homes. They are too annoying. Disturb sleep. Coo nonstop. I can’t deal with these birds 20 years. A dog comes with it’s own troubles, but I am willing to care for a dog for it’s 15 years of life.
I have thought about shelter dogs. Trouble with shelter dogs, especially JRT’s, is they may not be used to cats. And, I own a variety of other pets.
And, my dad was the one who took it to the SPCA. He’d had enough.
I’m sure those people who have the dogs would allow a trial period. My parents wouldn’t like the idea. They know if they saw it…they’d want to keep it and then it’d be hard to say no.
I am looking for a new place, but I live in a SMALL town and really there isn’t much option for me here. I’ve put in applications to the zoo and am currently pursuing a job with the Petco opening up in town.

I am offended that you think I have the audacity to get a dog I wouldn’t care for. What would I be doing at a VET CLINIC if I have no intentions of caring for an animal properly?
And, I am 20 and still at home because I went to a 2 year college here in town and there was no sense moving out. I’d like to move out. In fact, I’d dive at the chance to, but my town has a lack of apartments.
I went to a pet store 3 weeks ago and purchased a rare blue male Doxie. It was not an impluse buy; I wanted a Doxie; Maltese or Beagle so I was happy when I saw one. There was actually two: blue male and blue femalw but I wanted to buy him for breeding purposes as I recently opened a small kennel of Doxies. I currently have 3 female Doxies and a male and wanted a new addition. I know a bit about puppy mill dogs and asked the pet store where they come from, owner said rep. Doxie breeder in Missouri.
He is currently 15 weeks old and is limping, supporting himself on his two front legs, back two are a bit stiff; hard to move. He has keenel cough and gave him meds that I gave one of my female Doxies when she was 8 weeks, his skin is PEELING off and becoming BALD, he has yellow discharge from the eyes. I went back to the shop and told them this; they said it would all clear in a few days. They gave me meds for the cough and anti-biotics for eye. Checked him over with THEIR vet, said he…
…was the healthiest Doxie they’ve sold in 9 years! The people at the pet store (not the vet) told me that all Doxie pups shed their fur at 10-20 weeks old; I said that I’ve raised Doxies before and I know thry don’t; lady said that I don’t know enough about Doxies to know that. I was offered back (paid 0 for him – reduced from 00), free de-sexing at 6 months old and a free Kong toy worth .99!!!!! I was told that I should be happy to get all this free stuff, a reduced puppy and a very RARE, one-of-a-kind BLUE Doxie.
I’ve never seen a blue Doxie before my puppy (named Seal) – can anybody give me information about Blue Doxies? I told the pet shop that I wanted to breed and they said that if I breed him with a red Doxie, I can get red, black and blue puppies; is this true?
He is so special to me and my kids!
Also, he has lost his appetite almost completely. Only eats little bits every 6-7 hours even though the food is always left out for him ONLY – he is very thin.
I asked for registration papers (they said he was registered with the AKC), ceritficates of health from parents and a certification from a vet clearing both parents of hereditary diseases. They said I would get it in the post in a months time. I gave them my cell number, home number, work number, moms house number and my adress but no mail or phone call!!
Oh and by the way, they told us he has to come to THEIR vet until he is one year old or they will take him away from me and make all these claims to pet stores not to sell a pup to me because I didn’t follow their agreement?

i went to a pet shop the other day, and the were offering an ‘imperfect dragon’ at a discount price, and i was wondering what they are, and weather it is a good idea to get one?

i got my maltese from the pet store when she was 6 weeks old – she cost me 0, dropped from 00. she is now 8 weeks old. she has a very snappy temerament and always growls and bites me when i try to pick her up or feed her. when i got her, she was in a cage with 3 other maltese girls in it that all had a problem with their eyes. my girl had an eye infection, kennel cough and fleas when i got her. i was given some flea meds for her and and a gift voucher for their store. they were feeding her science diet large breed adult food so they gave me a 3lb bag of that. she always hides in her crate, cries everynight, is not affectionate, is very aggressive towards strangers and other dogs. i cant even take her for a walk. she is afraid of loud noises and big people (luckily im only 5’1). i dont know what to do! can someone please give me advice? she is a nightmare to live with! i need serious answers only. she also shakes a lot when in her crate, and she somtimes vomits after meals.
the shop i purchased my dog from told me that i should use their vet because he has been a certified vet for 30+ years and is very experienced with problems in maltese puppies like mine.
the person that worked there told me not to change her food from Science Diet – LARGE Breed food for ADULT dogs because maltese dogs can digest this type of food better than small breed puppy food. they said it was better for her teeth and could aid in digestion.
she has vomitted twice since i got her home.
when she vomitted for the 2nd time, i went to the pet shop and asked why she was doing this. they said that maltese dogs have bad digestion and this is very common. i told them that a worker said to feed her *****SCIENCE DIET – LARGE BREED – ADULT FOOD******* so it can aid her digestion and he said that the food wont kick in for another week.
i feel like such an idiot but i am very worried. i have got hardly any money to spend at any other vet. their vet charges me per visit.
i enrolled her into obedience classes last tuesday. the first class was on saturday and went for 2 hours including a 45 minute socialization class and went for 6 weeks. it started at 5pm. My puppy did very well in the obedience part and was very eager to get treats for doing what she was told. when it came to socilization, she got in a FIGHT with a 13 week old male Pug. she scratched the Pug near the rib cage and i had to pay the owner of the pug 0 for half a vet bill and i was KICKED OUT of the puppy classes and was given HALF my money back as a refund. the lady told me that my maltese had terrible behavioral issues and that i needed to go and enroll her into another class because she wouldnt accept such a bad tempered dog.
ANOTHER THING ABOUT THE PET SHOP:
They asked me to ONLY use their vet and if i did, i would get a 0 voucher for their shop, a free dog crate, some free dog food (SCIENCE DIET – LARGE BREED – DULT FOOD) and their vet would only charge me per visit, not including medication. it seemed like a good idea because my local vet charges per visit and i get nothing except a puppy pack valued at from them. the pet shop asked me to sign an agreement saying i would use their vet for a minimum of 4 months and if i break the contract, they will SUE me.
The pup is not covered for genetic problems, only for health issues that occured while the puppy is with them, any problems caused by the sire and dam are not under the warrantee. if i took her back, I could only get 0 back.
When i went into the pet store, i was only looking at the rabbits as i was going to buy one for my neice for her birthday. I went to look at the puppies and fell inlove with her instantly! when i went to see her, there were several (around 5) children tapping on the glass and 2 girls asked a worker to hold the pup and the worker agreed. The worker left the Maltese (the Maltese i purchased) unattended for around 15 minutes. The girls kept holding her up in the air and patting her belly etc.
yes i purchased her on instict. i didnt think i had over 00 in my bank so i went back a few days to see if she was still there and she was. I saw the price had dropped so i baught her.
she definetly went through a lot when she was at the shop. her sister was limping a lot and the person that let me hold her told me that a worker had accindetly dropped her while he was socilizing her (handling her)
