Trouble with Friskies canned cat food?

Hey all. I was wondering if anyone else has had any trouble getting their kitties to eat the Friskies canned cat food? Both of my boys suddenly won’t touch it, and the younger one was sick for several hours after he tried to eat a new flavor from the Special Diet. He immediately started sneezing and went outside to eat some grass. It’s entirely possible that they’re just spoiled and being hard to get along with but they used to be eating at least 3 cans of this stuff a day and now they won’t touch it. Anybody know anything? Thanks much!
1) They eat at about three cans a day between the two of them, and the younger one is still growing so he’s always hungry :P

2) I’m always changing the flavors, and very often the brands because they’re both very picky.

My cat has been eating Friskies Special Diet, both wet and dry, for about four years now. And I have not yet seen anything wrong with him. Does that mean that the Friskies brand for cats is safe for them to eat.? I have looked online at so many sites about the recalled food, I’ve also called the number to Friskies(Nestle Purina) and they said that their cat food was not on any of the recalled pet food lists. I’m really wondering if this true or not. Should I continue to feed my cat Friskies?

I took my cat to the vet the other day because she seemed sick. It turned out she has some sort of infection of the urniary tract possibly due to crystals forming in her urine. Since this happened to her, she won’t be able to eat regular food anymore (Friskies, Meow Mix etc.) because those types of foods caused the crystals to form.

For the next couple of weeks I have to feed her some perscription food to help break up the crystal formations. Then after that, the vet told me that I have to buy this certain cat food to prevent this from happening again and it’s bucks a 4 lb. bag!

I don’t mind paying for more expensive food, but I was hoping if anyone had any information on places where you can buy special diet type foods for less than what you would pay at the vet.

Also, if anyone knew of a comparable food to buy in place of the expensive stuff that would be just as effective.

Thanks for the help.

My cat who is 3 had her kidneys fail, so she is on a very low protein diet. The vet has been no help in recommending food other than the special diet kidney disease cat food. What are some things that a cat would like to eat that contain no protein?

Is it true that you should change your dog food often and not feed the same food all the dog’s life? On a side note my vet prescribed a special diet for my dog when he got sick-
ground beef and rice ………hmmmmmmm

My 2 year old Yorkie just had a cystotomy about 12 days ago, and the results from examining the stone just came back. He has struvite stones, and the vet recommends he go on a special diet (Royal Canin S/O was one of the recommended brands) but I’ve read that those foods are crap. Since I’ve had him, he’s been on Solid Gold- Hunden Flocken. Now what?! I don’t know WHAT to give him!

I only use Friskies dry food now, and (hesitantly) Iams Adult dryfood. I always buy the Friskies Gourmet Poultry flavor (their favorite), but last week I decided to get Friskies Special Diet (the blue bag) because it is good for the urinary tract and ph levels.

THEY WON’T TOUCH IT! They were moving their dishes out of the way to find crunchies that had fallen on the floor from their last bag. After 2 days of them eating maybe 4 or 5 crunchies out of the bowl, I put the bowl outside. Nope, still full the next day. So I took a whole pile of it to where there were some wild, stray cats around. 3 days later the pile was STILL there.

WHAT’S UP WITH THAT?? Did anyone else have that kind of reaction to that flavor? It’s was spooky! I’ll NEVER buy that flavor again!

I wrote a question last month regarding tainted food and its’ source. I had one cat die and two others sick. One is not doing well, we are trying a special diet. The other is doing ok.
I have joined a class action suit as Menu Foods seems to be doing nothing about taking responsibility. My vet bills are over 00. The FDA has some cat food packets from me and it is being tested.

My dog had an allergy problem. He was on a special diet that was formulated for his allergies. The name of the maker of the food is Innovative Veterinary Diets better known in the industry as IVD.

Elmo, my pet Jack Russell Terrier, developed kidney failure. He had to be euthanized within two weeks of the onset of the problem. The only food Elmo was ever fed was IVD.

I find it to be very suspicious that he died from kidney failure just as a massive pet food recall was announced. Prior to the onset of kidney failure, he never had any problems with his kidneys. If any of you followers of Answers has had a pet die from kidney failure while eating IVD, please contact the corporate offices of IVD to let them know.

I wrote to them via email four days ago. They haven’t answered my inquiry yet. Please help me to get IVD added to the recall list. I don’t want any more pets to die from their negligence. Please help.
