We have been feeding my dog Blue Buffalo dog food for a while now. It is a newer dog food that is very rich in omega fatty acids (look it up for all the details). It is a great dog food. My dog is a shedder and the food helps. but… it is very expensive. We can no longer spend 12.99 on a 5lb. bag of dog food now that we have two dogs. We will be going away on vacation in a week or two and where we are boarding them, they will be fed Nutro. Is it a good healthy dog food? What is a comprable brand that is good for shedding dogs and that isn’t as expensive as Blue Buffalo but is still very healthy?

I am experienced in owning dogs and puppies and am getting another dog soon. I have a much different schedule than when I had my last two dogs and must chose a new breed that will fit my new lifestyle.

I will keep the dog outside during the day from 6:30am-2:00. I will be taking the dog on my morning run from 5:00-6:00, and will take him outside on a walk every hour from 2:00 to 10:00 or until the dog goes to sleep. He will have one more long walk at 5:00pm. Weekends will be free and the dog will not be alone at all. Shedding and ease of trainablility arent concerns of mine.

I will not be able to have giant dogs (ie Great Danes, Irish Wolfhounds) because of my father’s preferences, but large dogs , approximately 28" or less, are acceptable.

Preferences are to have a friendly and affectionate dog who is alert and will remain calm during new experiences. I would rather a large size dog (we have a sturdy, heavy fence the likes of which any size dog has excellent room and cannot escape).

Extreme weather is not a problem for me as I live in San Francisco, CA. Depending upon the dog’s breed, I will bring him inside for the day during waves of uncomfortable weather. I already have dog supplies and have disinfected the lot of it.

I have two dogs and a cat. One dog is extremely vicious and goes very porotective when she sees other dogs or people she doesnt know, The other one is very kind and gentle. My cat is also quite vicious. My cats and dogs dont get along so Im wondering how I can introduce my rabbit to my dogs and cats.

I put a foam pad in her crate and she shredded it . Now she sleeps on towels. She has not touched the two dog beds in the den. However the outdoor beds are a problem. She took the stuffing out of one and chewed on the other bed. For a while I kept putting the stuffing back in. The other two dogs do not seem to mind. Since the weather became cold last week, I put a new bed in one of the dog houses and new bed on the porch. She shredded both to usless pieces. I put bitter apple on them, but it did not prevent having clusters of fluff all over the lawn. She shreds soft toys, so I take out the squeakers, This helps them last a bit longer. I have told her "bad" and shoved bits of stuffing in her face several times in the past few months. I can’t catch her in the act! She only likes to chew fluffy toys, sticks and rawhide. This is getting expensive!
She gets exercise by weekly outings to the creek, running around the half acre yard with the other two dogs, chasing squirrels,birds, and every one who walks or drives by, and playing ball every day. I imagine she may be bored. Sometimes the other dogs get tired of playing with her.

Or is there some type of hardy lawn or ground cover to withstand dog urine?? We have two dogs and a small patch of grass for them to do there duty…the grass is yellow and dead and we need to consider an alternative……thanks.

I’m currently in mid transition between two houses so while I’m staying with family, my two dogs are being kept in a dog run. We’ve noticed some putrid smells coming from the grassy areas around the dog run and we’ve concluded that it’s their urine. Is there any solutions to getting rid of this smell. We have tried the OdoBan brand of Lawn refresher and while it freshens for a while, it doesn’t last long. Please help! The smell is unbearable!
